Artist Registration & Check-in Process

 

Chalk Squares & Chalk

 

All artists (team members included) need to register online by August 21st, 2024. Each registered team will receive a Chalk the Block for Charity Utah™ official space number, a 48-piece chalk set, and festival t-shirts (for the first 350 registrants). We will be featuring our registered artists work on our social media pages and on our website! They may check-in at the Artist Check-In booth on Thursday, August 22nd starting at 9:30am. There you will receive your t-shirt, chalk, and your official space number. If you have questions please call 801-802-8430 or email us at [email protected].


Each artist/team will be assigned an asphalt parking stall to chalk in. The festival will be held in the north Provo Beach lot at The Shops at Riverwoods.

Only CHALK can be used for drawings. No paint, crayon, ink or other non-washable or permanent products. Each team will be given a 48 piece box of pastel chalk to use. You may mix your chalk with water to be used as “paint”. This year artists are allowed one base layer of tempera paint. This may not be used as part of your piece!

Judging will take place around 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 24th. YOUR TENT AND SUPPLIES MUST BE CLEARED BY THAT TIME IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE COMPETITION. Artwork will be judged in the following categories: Best in Show 1st, 2nd, 3rd, People’s Choice 1st and 2nd, Best Use of Color, Best Representation of the Theme, and Best Representation of a Master’s Work. *subject to change*


Hidden Puzzle Pieces

As many of you know, we are proud to donate the proceeds of the festival to a charity. This year we are pleased to be working with Spectrum Academy as our featured Charity. We ask that you add a puzzle piece to your artwork in honor of Spectrum Academy and their focus on children with autism.

As we continue to elevate the quality of the festival, every team MUST pre-submit a brief sketch or picture of your design. These images should be submitted via email (take a picture and email it) to [email protected] by Friday, August 16th. Please include your name in the email so that we can match your team to the submitted sketch. The art created must be suitable for public and family viewing (no nude or lewd work). No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art. The Chalk the Block for Charity Utah™ Committee reserves the right to refuse, stop, or eliminate objectionable material.


To be officially included in this year’s award competition artists must be registered and have their art piece finished by 3pm on Saturday, August 24th. We also encourage our artists to post their photos to social media using the hashtag: #Chalktheblockforchairtyutah2024.
